Balance during a jumping competition is vital. You and your horse have to be balanced on the approach and ride away of the fence. Creating a course of different elements of grid work (bounce, double, combination) can help your horse improve their balance as it gets their mind thinking and they pay attention to you.

In the video below you can see me riding a course made up of the elements of grid work. There is a bounce, double and a dogs leg. After each combination i focus on my ride away to help my horse stay balanced round the corners to the next fence/ combination.

Doing this can benefit your horse and help them stay balanced round turns which can benefit you in competition as your horse will be able to manage jump off turns without slipping or injuring themselves.
